Daredevil Season 2 Trailer, Part 2 (My Thoughts)

Previously, I gave my thoughts on the first part of Daredevil's Season 2 Trailer. Well, the second part has finally dropped, and I wanted to give my thoughts on it.

Whereas the first part focuses on Frank Castle/The Punisher, this trailer focuses on one Elektra Natchios. Which I think is really neat. I have to admit, I am growing to love Elodie Yung as Elektra. I especially love her voice. I don't know why, but she has a great voice. I know she is French, but it seems to me she was trying to affect an English accent. Or maybe it's just me.

Based on what Elektra is saying in the trailer, Matt is going to be having problems with the Yakuza in this season. Turns out he didn't drive them out of NYC after all, and they're ready to take the city.

We also just may be seeing some fraying in Matt and Foggy's friendship this season. Which is understandable. Foggy knows Matt is Daredevil. He knows his best friend spends his nights wearing a devil costume and beats up criminals...and getting bruised and beaten up a lot himself. Matt, seriously. You're not Superman, stop leading with your chin.

Matt feels a responsibility to protect his city, but also keep in mind, the Punisher is rampaging. Elektra is in town. The Yakuza are on the comeback tour. Things are going to get rough, and you can't blame Foggy for being scared. Not to mention that Matt may be questioning his own methods as Daredevil. Remember in Part 1 where Punisher called him a half-measure? We may be seeing the Man Without Fear wonder if he's really doing any good at all.

And the BIG reveal? Scott Glenn's Stick said it: "They call them...The Hand." Yup. The Hand are coming. Not surprising, really. If Elektra is showing up, you know the Hand are not far behind. In the comics, Elektra was a part of the Hand before breaking away from them and becoming a mercenary. It does lead one to wonder here about whose side Elektra is on in the season? Will she be an ally or an enemy? Does she want to stop the Hand...or is she helping them?

The trailer closes with a bunch of action scenes, and a funny moment with Elektra and Matt. I know people like to criticize the MCU as being a bit overly-dependent on humor, but when it comes to the Netflix shows, a bit of humor every now and then really helps with handling the grim and grit the Netflix shows side take on.

I am excited for Season Two. I LOVED Season One, and I am looking forward to Iron Fist. Hopefully, after the darker directions of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Iron Fist will be a bit more light-hearted. We could use that as a palate cleanser at the least.

Pokemon Sun and Moon, My Thoughts

2016 is the 20th Anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, and Game Freak and Nintendo have done a big celebration, mainly in the form of releasing the original Red, Blue, and Yellow on the 3DS Virtual Console service. Thanks to the 3DS's Wi-Fi abilities, trading among those versions is still possible.

They also released two brand new Pokémon games due out at in the Holiday season this year: Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

I have to admit, this does pique my interest as a long-time fan of the Pokémon series, although I still have to grab Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby. Another cool feature they announced is that if you have the Pokémon Bank app, You can bring Pokémon from X, Y, Alpha Sapphire, Omega Ruby, and from Red, Blue, and Yellow from the Virtual Console to use in Sun and Moon. That's neat, although it would be nice if HeartGold and SoulSilver, as well as the Black and White versions, and as their sequels were included. They made an app in Japan for those two, I hope it comes to the US.

They also released a teaser trailer for the upcoming games. And here it is.

I will have to be honest about something, though. As awesome as it is that we are getting two brand-new Pokémon games, I am kind of disappointed we aren't getting new remakes of the original Red and Blue for the 3DS. Revisiting Kanto and being able to do all the things you can do in the latest Pokémon games would've been so awesome.

Not to mention it would've been a great way to introduce the original games to a new generation of fans. As great as it is that the original Red and Blue are available on the Virtual Console, they do have their flaws. I remember Psychic types being way overpowered in those games, and there were very little Bug or Ghost types of Pokémon or attacks to counter them. I remember to beat Sabrina, I have to evolve my Eevee into a Jolteon, and then trained it until it learned Pin Missile. Yeesh.

Anyway, this trailer starts with title screens in various languages. It has been said Sun and Moon will be the first Pokémon games to launch in Chinese. That's pretty neat, although I can't help but wonder how they played it before.

The trailer is really mostly just showing kids and adults playing various Pokémon games on various handhelds, from the original Game Boy to the 3DS. I think it's really neat, as it gives a message of togetherness, showing that the games have brought people all over the world together. A wonderful message, if you ask me.

It then gives a brief timeline of the main series games, and shows the people at Game Freak hard at work. We see brief glimpses of buildings, and even a very brief shot of a computer's screen. It showed a wire-frame model of what could possibly be a new bird-like Pokémon. It isn't much, but it does show they are working on something. It's not much, so I can't really say much about it.

In all, I am excited about Sun and Moon, but I do wish that they also gave us remakes of Red and Blue. Maybe for the 25th Anniversary.

Falcon #2 (December 1983)

Hello, and welcome once again to Classic Comic Showcase! This time, we are going to continue our look at the Falcon's 1980s miniseries because, well...why not? If you want to read my review of the first issue, it can be found right here.

The Falcon miniseries started off kind of...meh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest, either. It did do its job in establishing the solo Falcon's status quo, though. Hopefully, this issue will be a bit more fun as we get to see Falcon fight a Sentinel.

"Legion"
Writer: Jim Owsley
Pencils: Mark Bright
Inks: Mike Gustovich
Letters: Rick Parker
Colors: Christie Scheele
Editor: Larry Hama

The cover is pretty cool, I love it! It's got a Sentinel front and center holding up a beaten Falcon. It really does give a sense of menace and the idea that ol' Sam Wilson is in deep, deep trouble. The cover also shows a brand-new masthead logo. I do like it, but it does seem a bit inconsistent. The last issue had a graffiti-style logo, so I was hoping they'd stick with it. Ah, well.

The comic starts with Falcon taking a nice, relaxing flight. If I had his wings, I'd fly everywhere, too.

"Top of the world, Ma!"
Falcon is so busy enjoying himself, he accidentally causes a skydiver's parachute to spill, and he rescues her.

"Falcon, I told you! File a flight plan with the FAA! You'll get grounded again!"
He learns from the skydiver that the wind blew her off course, as he helps her to the ground. She introduces herself as Rachel, and he tells her his name. Yeah, Sam, tell a stranger your secret identity. He flies off over a community landfill, where something is thinking the word "MUTANT" over and over again.

Later, in an apartment, Tork wakes up Sam by beating a pan, and it's funny.

"Tork, man! I got an alarm clock! I keep telling you! You don't need to do that!"
Sam gets ready to start a day of work, listening to Tork rant about his job and about the Falcon having the "personality of a brick". You'd think considering that Sam and Tork clearly have known each other for some time, and Sam has worked with him as the Falson, Sam would tell him about being the Falcon.

Sam meets with a street gang known as The Legion. TITLE DROP! Sam had manged to reform the gang from a violent bunch of criminals to essentially a Neighborhood Watch/Guardian Angels type of group. The group wants to do a solidarity march, and they want Falcon to convince the authorities to allow it. Falcon agrees to set it up. He walks by a landfill, but then...

...THE SENTINEL.

"WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE A SURVEY ABOUT YOUR DEATH, MUTANT?"
A surprised Falcon is easily caught and gassed unconscious.

Meanwhile, Tork is wondering where Falcon is, and decides to go home. Falcon wakes up in what appears to be a lab, and he quotes Shakespeare as he wakes up.

"Zzzzzz...no, Juliet...I don't want to drink that with you..."
He notices the sun is rising, and he realizes his appointment with Tork and The Legion. He flies out of there, only for he Sentinel to discover him and chase after him. A minor issue I have here is that Falcon seems completely unfamiliar with the Sentinels. These things have rampaged and fought the X-Men in cities before this mini, so it is funny that Falcon would not have been at least been able to recognize them.

The Legion's parade goes on, until Xeon, one of the leaders, is confronted by your stereotypical dumb bigot cop. Dumb Cop tells Xeon he does not believe The Legion are the good guys now, and shoves him aside. Another Legionnaire kicks Dumb Cop, and a rookie cop panics and draws his gun. Tork sees this and tries to stop the rookie, but is too late. The Legionnaire is dead, and Xeon loses it.

"KHAAAAAAAAAN!"
Falcon tries to lose the Sentinel, but it's able to keep up with him. Falcon flies through a forest and towards a conveniently placed US Army artillery range. In an amusing bit, Falcon calls the Sentinel "Gigantor". The artillery's missiles do their job and blast the Sentinel.

"AAAARGH! RIGHT IN THIS UNIT'S BUTT PLATE!"
Falcon flies down and tells the soldiers to keep shooting at it. Back in the city, The Legion's parade has degenerated into a riot, and what does Tork do? Does he try to keep things calm? Nope, he just sits on a ledge.

"You know, that cloud looks like a bunny."
Way to do your job, Tork. Being real helpful there, pal.

Falcon and the Army's missiles managed to damage the Sentinel, but the chase is still on. Sam tries to get the Sentinel to stop as its "war is over". The Sentinel itself explains it is following its programming, as it's programmed to capture and secure mutants to protect humanity. It explains it was one of the same Sentinels that was destroyed by the X-Men in X-Men #98 (April 1976). In that comic, the Sentinels attacked the X-Men in Manhattan while they were celebrating Christmas.

After its destruction, the parts ended up in the landfill. Why couldn't the feds or SHIELD have taken the remains? Anyway, it turned out the Sentinel's brain still worked, and upon detecting the Falcon, it reassembled itself and attacked. Okay, WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CHECK TO SEE IF ANY PARTS OF THE SENTINEL WAS STILL WORKING AFTER CYCLOPS BLASTED IT OFF A 112-STORY BUILDING?!

"Plot convenience assembling powers, activate!"
The Sentinel then tries to crush Falcon, so he psionically summons Redwing the falcon. The bird flies inside the Sentinel and starts ripping out wires, and it manages to shut the Sentinel down.

Back in New York City, the riot is still raging. A woman emerges from a limo (yeah, smart thing, leaving a car during a RIOT), and one of The Legionnaires is a bout to shoot her, but stopped by Falcon. Xeon gets in Falcon's face, blaming him for the riot and the death of his friend. The woman, who turns out to be Rachel, the same skydiver that Falcon saved in the beginning of the issue, asks how he's going to win back the gang's trust. Sam walks away, saying "Slowly."

This issue is...not a bad one. Sam's battle with the Sentinel was fun to watch, especially since we got to see Sam being resourceful and smart in trying to fight a giant robot designed to fight a team of mutants. That was the fun part of this issue. It was also pretty sad to see The Legion's peaceful march degenerate into a riot. Things never go completely right for a superhero, do they? Although I can't help but feel the ball was dropped somewhere and this riot could've been prevented.

My other big complaint is the same as last issue. There's no overarching story. It would've been nice to see Falcon dealing with an over-arcing threat, but no. Another one-shot story.

This issue has a new artist, Mark Bright. He did Iron Man's art before this, and he does spectacular art work for this issue, especially since we see Falcon actually fighting a monsterous robot. I don't have any real complaints about it.

This issue isn't bad at all. It's weak points are overshadowed by basically this: Falcon vs. Giant Evil Mutant-Destroying Robot.

Deadpool and the R-Rating.

Deadpool's movie has come out to stellar reviews and massive box office success. I myself did a review of it here.

It also has a distinction of being one of the few superhero films to be given an "R" rating. With this, and the announcement of the next Wolverine film shooting for an "R" rating, as well as a possible X-Force film going for that as well, it has led me to be somewhat concerned.

Calm down, Deadpool. Now, I am not saying there should never be any R-Rated superhero films. I am just worried that with Deadpool's success, studios will get the wrong idea and want every superhero film to go for the rating. The R rating worked for Deadpool because he is a character that can fit into it. He can be bloody. He can be violent. And he can be crude. That is his character, and an R rating fits for him.

Problem is...such a rating does not fit EVERY character. Punisher, yes. Wolverine, yes. Deadpool, yes. However, let me ask you this...do you want an R-Rated Spider-Man, an R-Rated Captain America, or an R-Rated Squirrel Girl movie?

Yeah, I thought so. Personally, I don't really want that. I don't want every superhero film to shoot for an "R" rating, because...they don't NEED to. Look at the MCU. The films generally get a PG-13 rating, and they still do very well in the box office. As I said, the rating can fit some characters, but it doesn't fit everyone, and I hope the studios keep that in mind.

Deadpool Review

Well, it is finally here! Deadpool is here! And I got to watch it!

I have to admit, I have been excited for a film ever since I saw the famous test footage with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool via motion capture, and I have to admit, his Deadpool seemed just like the comic, complete with accurate costume.

While being as spoiler-free as possible, I will say this: This film was hilarious and had some warped moments. Reynolds's Wade Wilson was anti-heroic and hilarious.

The film had a lot of laughs, and some very nice appearances from the X-Men Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Props for this film using obscure characters!). It even managed to sneak in an homage to Bob, Agent of HYDRA.

The movie was bloody, violent, and hilarious ride. Ryan Reynolds is clearly having a blast being Deadpool, and it's really cool seeing him bounce off all these other characters. All the actors did very well, Gina Carano's Angel Dust was one bad bruiser, Leslie Uggams' Blind Al was a fun mother figure to Deadpool, and Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead was your typical broody movie teenager.

As for any negatives...well, it did feel a bit formulaic, but it didn't bother me watching the film. It also was surprising seeing Deadpool being a bit of a romantic, but again, it didn't bother me that much.

Go see the film. If you like violence with laughs, this is your movie. If you like Deadpool, this is your Deadpool movie. I can't wait for a sequel!

Daredevil Season 2 Trailer (Part 1), My Thoughts

I loved the Netflix Daredevil series. And lots of other people loved it, too. So many people loved it, a second season was ordered. We have been hearing lots of things about who will be appearing, including Cambodian-French actress Elodie Yung of G.I. Joe: Retaliation fame bringing Elektra to tablet screens, and Jon Bernthal of Walking Dead fame as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. I have heard that there is so much excitement over Bernthal's Punisher that they want to do a Netflix series for him. Amazing.

Anyway, the trailer just dropped.

My thoughts on it? Well...it's awesome. The first thing I noticed was that this was "Part 1". A multi-part trailer? Good heavens, that will be a sight. I wonder what part two will be like.

The trailer focuses on the Punisher, which I think is rather appropriate as I think he'll be one of the big threats of the series. We get little glimpses of his family home, which really helps show why Frank is what he is. From what we see from Bernthal, it's pretty clear he gets the character. His Castle is intense, tough as nails, and well, a bit of a psycho, which I think fits him. Let's face it folks, the Punisher is crazy. Based on the snippets we have seen of him in action, Daredevil may be in for one of the biggest challenges of his young superhero career.

We see lots of action, and it looks like ol' Matt Murdock may have some troubles down the line with his friends Karen and Foggy. Hopefully, those work out. Matt may be needing his friends based on what may be coming.

I liked the music they used in the trailer. It gave a sense of foreboding, and since Frank's coming to town, you know a whole lot of people will be eating lead. I also didn't see Punisher's big ol' skull emblem anywhere, but I think he'll get that later. Daredevil went through most of Season 1 without his trademark costume, so he may get that later.

The little cameo from Elektra at the end was a pleasant unexpected surprise. Elodie Yung is gorgeous. I can't wait to see her in action. And she has a really awesome voice. I liked the little bit of playfulness in her voice when she greeted Matt. Elektra is a woman who loves what she does, and I can't wait to see what Ms. Yung does with the character.

You know, since this trailer is a "Part 1" and focuses on the Punisher, maybe "Part 2" will focus on Elektra. I hope so. I want to see some sais a-flyin'!

Falcon #1 (November 1983)

Hello, and welcome to Classic Comic Showcase, where I look at an old comic book and decide whether it should be considered a classic or not.

It's February, which means that it's Black History Month. As such, I thought it would be appropriate to review a comic centering on a black superhero. As such, I chose the Falcon. Why the Falcon? Well, a couple reasons. One, because Sam Wilson has taken the mantle of Captain America, and because of Anthony Mackie's reprising the role of Sam Wilson in the upcoming film Captain America: Civil War. And also, the Falcon is awesome, and you damn well better respect the Falcon!

I love Robot Chicken.

In the 1980s, the Big Two of comic books had really fallen in love with the mini-series, or limited series. They published lots of them, focusing on characters from teams so they could have a solo adventure of their own. Falcon was one of those characters, so let's look at his 1983-84 miniseries.

I don't have the actual comics...but I do have a trade. Yup. Took me a while to find it. The trade, The Avengers: Falcon, collects the miniseries, as well as some of Sam Wilson's early appearances. If you want to find it, it's a couple years old, and it's great way to see the early days of a character that has gone on to do some big things, including wielding the shield.

"Winners and Losers"
Writer: Jim Owsley
Artist: Paul Smith
Inks: Vince Colletta
Editor: Jim Shooter

The cover depicts Falcon in a "last stand" type of pose against a brick wall, his mouth bleeding, costume torn and wings broken. In a nice touch, the character's logo is done in the style of graffiti. The indicia "#1 in a four-issue miniseries" doesn't quite follow it. It is attempting to follow the style of the logo, but keep its traditional font. It would've been neat to see the letters altered to make it look like they were spray-painted on with stencils. I like stencils. It's not a bad cover, not a bad cover at all.

The issue begins with a group of drunken teenage boys being unpleasant to a young girl on a hot night in Harlem.

However, her savior reveals himself: The Falcon. He tells the boy, Miguel, that drinking makes him stupid. Miguel demonstrates this by taunting the Falcon and making his friends go beat him up.

"Hey guys, it's the Falcon! Let's give him a hug!"
Being a trained Avenger, Falcon kicks their butts, and tries to talk to Miguel. Evidently, Miguel is a pretty smart kid, and Falcon thinks he has potential to really do something great with his life. Miguel rants at him about his wanting to get out of the ghetto and saying his brain has no use because it can't make him money, and he needs to make money to get out of the ghetto.

"You don't understand, man! You just don't understand!"
At this point, I do want to point out something rather funny about the coloring of the comic. You see, Miguel is Latino, and the Latino characters in this comic seem to have skin that looks...kid of grayish to me, like they were living rocks. Weird.

We cut to another building, where a cop with a shotgun is getting ready to make a bust.

"Yeah, I'll cool him, alright...what am I saying?"
He cuffs and gags the kid with his own headband, and then takes his piece. The cop then wonders where Falcon is, as according to him, Falcon has never failed to help him with this before. Deciding he has no choice but to make the bust, he bursts in like the cavalry, but... there's no one there.

"Well, that was a bust."
We cut to a little later, with the NYPD carting away the boys Falcon beat up. Turns out Miguel and the boys had gotten drunk as their boss, a dope dealer, didn't show up due to his learning of the stakeout. Falcon remarks to the policeman, who's name is Sgt. Tork (Hey hey, we're the Monkees!), that his shotgun is illegal. And Tork remarks that so is spitting on the sidewalk, which he does. He then asks Falcon to take Lucia home for him.

Falcon does so, and the father is grateful she is unharmed. Falcon asks the father to be lenient to Miguel, and even though he is a proud man, he will consider it.

Yeah, this scene is a bit...weird. At least Falcon admits that Miguel's being drunk was no excuse. The next day, people are lining up in front of a building being built, wanting applications. Presumably it's for an apartment in the building when completed, and people are getting impatient. Sam Wilson meets the man behind the buildings, a Mr. Kane. Kane wishes to talk to Sam, saying that he's been hearing rumors that he is a slumlord, and since Sam is respected in the community, he could help dispel the rumors.

Back with the line, people are getting impatient, and the applications are running low.

"Goin' crazy...goin' crazy...from the heat!"
Plus, it's a hot day, and tempers are flaring, until...BANG!

Sgt. Tork stands on the table and fires his service pistol at the ceiling, posing like John Wayne about to load up them cattle, pilgrim! Having the line's attention, Sgt. Tork reminds everyone that the ladies are doing the best they can when it comes to applications, and while he does express sympathy for their plight, being a long wait and a hot day, but they have to be patient. He reminds them that the media is here, and they're not only making the neighborhood look bad, they're also setting a bad example for their kids. I like Sgt. Tork.

Kane remarks that Sgt. Tork is a lunatic, but Sam states that Tork may be a bit crazy, he's a good man. In a bit of awesomeness, Sam grabs a metal rod and bends it with his bare hands while explaining to Kane he will not help him dispel the rumors. He hands the bent bar back to Kane, who tries to straighten it, but can't do it. Sam calls him out for having poor worksmanship and shoddy materials in his buildings. As such, Sam can't give him support. He also reveals he started the rumors about Kane being a slumlord.

"Aw man, I can't even straighten a Slinky!"
We then go to court, where Sam is speaking up for Miguel. He appears to be acting as Miguel's defense council...wait, Sam's a social worker. Does that job also require him to act as legal aid? The judge is understandably reluctant to his record and the severity of his charges, but Lucia and her father tell them they withdraw the complaint, so the judge dismisses the case.

"Yeah, my job is important, but I am HUNGRY!"
Sam and Miguel have a talk. Miguel feels that he can't stop screwing up, but Sam tells him that staying away from booze would help him. Miguel counters that drinking helps him forget, and his hard life gives him a lot to forget. Sam explains that being a drunken lout doesn't make his life or anything else better. He encourages Miguel to stay in school and keep out of trouble. The advice does seem a bit trite, but I get what they're going for, and I admit, it is a bit of a nice moment, Sam not giving up on a kid with potential.

The two are interrupted by an attack on one of Kane's unfinished buildings.

"Look out! Jim's drunk and thinks he's Donkey Kong again!"
The attacker is a costumed man named Nemesis. Sgt. Tork tries to shoot him, but it does no good. However, before Nemesis could turn Tork into dead Monkee, Falcon comes to the rescue.

"WINGS TO THE FACE!"
Falcon manages to knock Nemesis off the building, but Nemesis's armor and power is able to give him a big advantage over the Falcon, much to his frustration. Nemesis is able to catch Falcon and attempts to cook him with electricity.

"BAH GAWD ALMIGHTY, KING! NEMESIS IS BEATING FALCON LIKE A GOVERNMENT MULE!"
Falcon is saved by the arrival of the police. They treat Falcon...even though there should be EMTs to take care of that. Kane drives up and is furious at Falcon, saying Nemesis's rampage caused a lot of damage, and Falcon just let him get away with it. Sam just tells him he has a job to do and flies off.

Meanwhile, Miguel gets ready to start his job at a grocery store. The manager tells him he fond out about Miguel's arrest, and fires him, stating he does not hire gangsters. A girl named Yna approaches Miguel. Evidently she has a bit of a crush on him, and is angry that he drunkenly tried to assault Lucia...instead of her...yeah. Hey Yna, I think that you should be more angry that the boy you liked tried to ASSAULT A GIRL. Yna is a dope. Anyway, Miguel angrily tells her to buzz off, and she does. Miguel kicks a stack of boxes in frustration.

"Well...guess I gotta practice my box-kicking skills."
That night, after a scene with Falcon and Tork with Falcon looking out for Nemesis on Kane's building, Miguel wanders around, back on the bottle. He notices a door that is open a crack, and peeks in. He sees Nemesis inside, about to take off his helmet.

"Oh my God, it's Old Man Larson!"
Redwing alerts Falcon to something, and Nemesis is on the rampage. Falcon gets on the attack, and is able to damage Nemesis's suit, until he hears Miguel's cry for help. Nemesis tied Miguel to one of the buildings...with a load of dynamite, like in a Looney Toons cartoon. Miguel screams at Falcon to get out of there, because the building's going to go down. Falcon goes for the dynamite, despite Miguel pleading Falcon to let him die, as all he does is screw up. Sam manages to grab the dynamite and toss it at Nemesis, further damaging his armor. Man, Nemesis's armor must be able to take one heck of a beating.

Falcon frees Miguel, who laments that he can't stop screwing up despite everyone trying to help him. However, Falcon reassures him that he'll make it. His armor damaged, Nemesis flees, shoving his way through people to a subway.

"Out of my way! I have to fix my costume for the con!"
He jumps the turnstile, and makes the trin stop in the most insane way possible.

"I COMMAND YOU AS GOD OF DAMAGED SUPERVILLAIN COSTUMES!"
The conductor stops the train, and yells at Nemesis. Nemesis tosses him out and takes control of the train. He demands that the train be allowed to go to South Ferry. Falcon flies after him in an AWESOME full page spread, neing cheered on by the citizenry!

"Here I come to save the dayyyy..."
Nemesis wonders how Falcon could've found him, until he spots Redwing. He decides to get out of there, only to be shoulder-checked by Falcon. Same takes his mask off, revealing it was Kane, who was destroying his own buildings to collect the insurance money...how did he know that? Maybe Miguel told him.

In an epilogue, Tork remarks that Kane may be going to jail, but there are problems getting new buildings in the area, and the neighborhood is poorer for it. Tork asks Sam who really won. Falcon remarks Miguel did, and we see him sweeping the front of the grocery store, waving up at him. I'm guessing that's meant to hint that Miguel is finally on the straight-and-narrow and is going to go on to do some big things.

The trade also includes an editorial in a space called "Crib Notes". It talks about how the mini-series came to be. Fascinating stuff.

This comic is...okay. On one hand, the issue does a pretty good job establishing who Falcon is for new readers, what he's about, and his status quo at the time. However, the mystery of Nemesis's identity is simple, but also very weak. We don't see Falcon do any real detective work here, so his explaining of Kane/Nemesis's motive is out of nowhere. Also, this is a four-issue mini-series, and I saw no hints of the beginnings of an arc over it. Paul Smith is a fine artist, but his art story is a bit too clean for this, I think. I would've wanted someone with a more gritty style.

I would only get this if you're a Falcon fan, and can find it dirt-cheap. I still would recommend the trade, though. And I'm looking forward to reviewing issue two, as it features Falcon taking on...a Sentinel.

Batman V Superman Super Bowl Trailers, My Thoughts

Captain America: Civil War was not the only superhero film to get a trailer during the Super Bowl this year. DC Comics also put out two spots with their next superhero flick: Batman V Superman.

Like the Civil War trailer, they are very short, only about thirty seconds each. One can criticize them as glorified Turkish Airlines ads, and I can see why. That's what I thought initially myself, to be honest.

However, on further thought, I realized that actually is a neat idea. These little spots are giving us a glimpse of the world of Batman v Superman. We are seeing in-universe ads, and that's pretty cool.

One touch I liked was that the Gotham one was showing night scenes and the Metropolis one was showing daytime scenes. Fits their characters very well. Superman should be about brightness and light, and Batman is about grim darkness. I also LOVED seeing the red streak of Superman flying by in the Metropolis spot and the Bat-Signal in the Gotham spot.

Jesse Eisenberg's Lex still does seem a bit off to me. On the OTHER hand, though...Ben Affleck made a pretty good Bruce Wayne. I think I was probably one of the only people on the planet that didn't flip into a nerd rage when he was announced as the new Batman, and well, I think he's going to do just fine.

Not much else to say, really. Except I know Batman will be heavily favored in this movie.

Captain America: Civil War Super Bowl Trailer: My Thoughts.

Well, the Super Bowl has come and gone. Many tune into the big game for various reasons. Some want to see a game, some want to see the halftime show, and some want to know what the big epic commercials will be this year.

Among the ads this year was a new...trailer for Captain America: Civil War.

The first thing I thought when seeing this is...wow. This is short. It's only about thirty seconds.

However, despite its short length, it packs a lot of punch. We don't get much idea of what this last film is going to be about, the last trailer provides that. Instead this little teaser packs a LOT of action. We see Cap and Bucky working as a team, Black Widow seeing an airport explode, and the coolest part...

We see Team Cap and Team Iron Man facing off.

This looks awesome. The tension can be cut with a knife, that's how much of it there was. I just wonder how this film will juggle such a massive cast.

I have also heard about people demanding Spider-Man in this movie. I think they're going to save him for a post-credits scene.

I am so excited for this movie.
